How to Install a Low-Voltage Transformer
- 1). Turn off the power to the facility. Usually you can do this by turning off the applicable circuit breakers.
- 2). Disconnect the 120-volt power supply line from the electrical load. The electrical load is the system you are looking to power with the output of the low-voltage transformer.
- 3). Place the low-voltage transformer between the 120-volt terminals and the electrical load.
- 4). Connect the 120-volt wires to the primary side of the low-voltage transformer. Connect the secondary side of the transformer to the electrical load. Connect a ground wire leading from the neutral of the transformer to the facility ground.
- 5). Turn on the circuit breakers and restore power to the system.
