Dead is Dead Flashback Information

Flashback Character:Ben
Flashback Highlights: While in the Others' camp, shortly after being shot and then taken to Richard, Ben meets Charles Widmore. Ben doesn't seem to remember how he got injured, but he does remember that he doesn't want to go back to his father.
Several years later, with a young Ethan by his side, Ben goes to kill Danielle Rousseau.

When he goes into her shelter, he sees that she has an infant, and he takes the baby and tells her never to come looking for him. He goes back to the camp and Charles says that he was supposed to exterminate that woman and he should have killed the baby as well. Ben says she's a child and holds her out to Charles and says, "You do it." Charles walks away.

A few years later, Ben pushes Alex on a swing and then goes to talk to Charles as he's being banished from the island. Ben says he has to go because he left the island regularly and had a daughter with an outsider. Charles says that Ben is taking what is his.

Before boarding the Ajira Airways flight, Ben remembers talking to Charles on the phone and telling him that he is looking at the boat Penny is on and he is about to kill her. Ben goes to kill Penny, but Desmond gets in his way and he shoots Desmond. He tells Penny that her father is a horrible human being and that Charles killed his daughter, which is why he is there. Little Charlie comes out and Ben lowers his gun.

Desmond tackles him from behind, beats him, and throws him into the water.

Dead is Dead Island Highlights

Ben tells Locke that even though he knew it would happen, it's another thing to actually see Locke alive. Ben tells Locke that he came back to be judged, because he broke the rules in coming to the island.
Ben goes to his old office and takes a picture of he and Alex from a frame. Locke says that he's going to help Ben get judged.

Locke and Ben take the outrigger after Ben shot Caesar for trying to stop them. They go to the main island and see someone in Ben's old house. Ben goes to investigate and finds Sun and Frank. They say that Christian told them to go there and wait for John Locke.

Locke tells them that he doesn't know why or how he got there, but he can help Sun find Jin. Frank leaves to go back to the other island, but Sun decides to stay with Locke and Ben.

When Frank gets to the smaller island, he learns that Ilana and a few others have guns and say they are in charge. He finds Ilana next to a large crate and she says, "What lies in the shadow of the statue?"

Frank doesn't know what she's talking about and she hits him with her rifle and then tells one of the men to tie him up, that he's going with them.

Ben tries to summon the smoke monster, but it doesn't come and Locke says he knows where to find it. Ben hates blindly following Locke and Locke points out that he used to be the one who was expected to blindly follow Ben. They reach the walls that protect the Temple and Ben explains that the walls were built to keep people like Sun and Locke away from their Temple, which is about half a mile away. Locke informs Ben that they aren't going to the Temple, they are going under it. He shows Ben the large hole in the ground.

Ben asks Sun to tell Desmond he's sorry if she ever gets off the island and then goes down into the hole with Locke following him. He tells Locke that Locke was right, he is there to be judged for killing his daughter. He tells Locke he can find the way from there and that he'll meet him outside. Ben falls through a hole in the floor to another room. Locke leaves to get something to get him out with.

The smoke monster comes in and surrounds Ben. As if watching a screen, Ben sees when he took Alex, when she was a girl, and when she was a teenager yelling that she hates him. He also saw her death, and then the smoke is gone. Alex appears to him and roughly tells him to listen to everything that John Locke says. Ben promises he will and when he opens his eyes, Alex is gone.

Locke asks what happened and Ben says that it let him live.
