  The most common style of curtain used for sidelights are sheers. A sheer is a thin, transparent fabric that allows light through while providing some privacy. Sheers can be purchased in any color and often have a central tie that turns the appearance of the sidelight window into a bow. This type of window treatment uses rods at the top and bottom of the curtain and can be installed in a few minutes, often using magnetized rods.
  
  

Lace

  Another common treatment for sidelight windows is lace curtains. A lace curtain uses field netting and areas of lace. The netting acts similar to a sheer by allowing light through while the lace provides detail and privacy. A lace curtain has a pattern, and the pattern should be fitted to the window for the curtain to look its best. This window treatment is more common for traditional and country style homes.
  
  

Curtains

• Fabric curtains are custom sewn to fit sidelights. Usually the curtain is not lined due to the added weight and bulk of the lining. Often the fabric will be an expensive silk or other fine draping fabric. The curtain is sewn using dressmaker details, such as a tasseled tie, beaded edging and small trims. This curtain is designed to provide privacy and elegance. By decorating the sidelight windows, the color and decor of the foyer space is brought up the entry door wall.
  
  

Beaded Curtains

  One curtain enjoying a renewal is the beaded curtain. The lightness of the beads and the glitter of crystals can add a different type of elegance to sidelight windows. Beads arranged in patterns can evoke the idea of stained glass without looking dated or fussy. Beads in graphic patterns can make the window look modern and hip. This flexibility, along with the movement of the beads, allows light to enter and style to be displayed at the same time.
