How to Fix Power Seats in a Chevy Silverado

14
    • 1). Turn on the engine. A running engine is required for the heated power seats to work.

    • 2). Locate the two buttons on the door indicating the heated power seat function.

    • 3). Familiarize yourself with how the buttons work. The RH button will heat all of the seat--back and cushion. The LH button only heats the seat back. The three light bars tell you how heated the seats are.

    • 4). Try heating the seat back and the seat cushion. Tap the RH button once. Wait for the three light bars to indicate high heat. Press the button again. Find a medium heating setting selected. Push the button once more and find a low heat setting shown on the bars. Tap the button again to turn off the heat.

    • 5). Press the LH button to test the seat back. Note that the light indicates that only the seat back is heated. Three bars will light up indicating that the seat is heated as much as it can be. Press the button again and find two bars lit to indicate a medium heat setting. Push it again to the lowest setting and one bar will show. Tap the button a fourth time to turn the seat off.

    • 6). Bump your seats back into operation. Switches are very sensitive and can be made operational just by touching them with the right force. Lightly bump the switches like you would under normal driving conditions and then test your seats for functionality.

    • 7). Restore seat heater resistance elements to the updated range of 1.5 to 55 ohms so they will function properly in the future and be less likely to randomly malfunction.
