How to Install a Shimano Fishing Line

17
    • 1). Attach 5 or 10 yards of monofilament line to the spool of your reel with an arbor knot. Wrap the free, or tag, end of the line around the spool with 5 or 6 inches extending past the spool of the reel.

    • 2). Form an overhand loop with the tag end so that the loop passes around the main line. Form a second overhand loop below the first one, moisten the knot and pull down tight. Trim any excess line from the knot with scissors.

    • 3). Spool the monofilament line onto the reel. Attach the Shimano Power Pro line to the monofilament line with a uni-to-uni splice. Refer to the Shimano Power Pro website for detailed information on how to tie the knot.

    • 4). Spool the Power Pro onto the reel by slowly turning the handle of the reel. Refer to the reel as well as Shimano's recommendations for line amounts. Keep in mind that the reel's manufacturer will base recommendations on monofilament line, and Power Pro line diameters are typically much smaller for the equivalent pound test line.

    • 5). Cut the spooled line from the main spool with a sharp pair of scissors. Power Pro is a braid line and requires a very sharp pair of scissors to make a clean cut through the line.
