The Long and the Short of the Male Penis
In my twenty some years as a clinician, I have consulted not only with couples on relationship issues, but also with men and females on a one to one basis.
And yes the issue of the male organ has come up with men.
As I am a non-judgmental person, I guess I have the knack to get men to open up on the things on their minds.
I am feeling a bit odd writing about this as it is kind of a crazy issue for me.
But over the years I have come to stop belittling the issue of the size of the male organ.
Clearly, it is an instrument of male ego so cannot be dismissed.
And, frankly, judging the amount of ads on the internet on various techniques for augmentation and the seemingly ever-increasing spam on the issue, I have decided to share some thoughts on this.
Men are increasingly the prey to loads of spam on the issue.
In short, while this may not be important to 98% of the women I meet (except those who fancy themselves as porn stars), it is an important issue issue to a significant portion of the male population.
I find increased interest by men in literature covering the topic, from natural supplements to mechanical devices to other pretty crazy ideas.
All right, as I therapist, I could call this shallow, a sign of weakness, or yet another example of the moral degradation of our society, but I will not.
We are living in a society where beauty has become an illusive goal, where sex is so ever present that one cannot seemingly formulate the most innocent observations without someone making a sexual innuendo about it.
So here it is.
If a man will feel better and prouder by being bigger, so be it.
Why is it such a big deal? Why is this judged differently from a woman who gets breast implants, or an obsessive compulsive male who spends 6 hours a day at the gym? The ego has come under attack by advertisers and, let's face it, we live in a world of betterment under the pressure of popular culture.
So, if some guy asks me what I think about it and it seems to be a big deal for him, who am I to judge.
If an augmentation procedure will allow him to raise his head a little higher, walk with a bigger bounce in his step and talk to the other sex in a more confident manner, I see no harm with it as long as it is done safely.
This being said, I am not an elongation expert.
But I have done some research on the different techniques because my patients eventually ask me about it.
My own view is to forget the chemicals and pills and these will only do substantial harm to other vitals.
If length is what is desired, my doctor friends tell me the only safe way is through gradual stretching of the penis over a period of time.
I am not here to do your research you.
You can do this yourselves.
So there you go.
It's off my chest.
I may be deemed a radical as a therapist but I don't think so.
Life is about feeling good, being your best and doing what works for you.
I am not here to judge what makes people tick and what might make them feel better about themselves.
Male augmentation issues have been with us for centuries and we do find examples in early civilization and native tribes of men's desire to become better.
In some cases, I can vouch for the fact that it can improve the quality of a relationship, so go for it if you're interested in exploring this.
