How to Troubleshoot a Digital TV

10
    • 1). Make sure the satellite or cable receiver box is turned on. If the device is off no channel will be accessible.

    • 2). Look at the cable connection between the digital television and other devices. If the connection is not secure you may have interference such as static in the image or odd noises in the audio. If using RCA cables make sure they're inserted tightly. If using coaxial cables make sure each end is tightly screwed in.

    • 3). Inspect the RCA cables. If you're not receiving both picture and audio it may be because one of the RCA cables is not properly plugged in. If there is no picture the yellow plug may have an issue (it is not plugged in, not secure, or in the wrong plug). If there is an audio problem check the red and white cables.

    • 4). Press the "Menu" button on the television remote and select "Channel Scan." This will scan the television for available channels. If you have not yet performed the scan, you may see stations where no reception is available. This is because your cable service does not allow you access to those stations.

    • 5). Adjust the brightness level of the television. This should be done if the image appears too dark or too bright. To access the brightness level return to the "Menu" button on the remote, navigate over to "Video" and select "Brightness."
