Originally three towns were renamed and brought together to become Llandudno way back in the early eighteen hundreds. Although, there have been settlements here since the Stone Age. Llanduno was first developed as a ´seaside resort´during the mid eighteen hundreds: Today this town (known as the Queen of Welsh Resorts) is fast becoming a trendy holiday destination for those looking to escape the city. And while the town´s sweeping Victorian Promenade and Pier continues to ensure the original, ´traditional´ character of the seafront remains prominent, changes are taking place to accommodate Llandudno´s increasingly ´hip and chic´ image. Certainly the arrival of some rather unusual, trendy Boutique Hotels in Llanduno seems to reflect the new demand for something aside from the somewhat reiterative and typical seaside accommodation which has always been available in the town - The kind of accommodation that will cater to Llandudno´s new more contemporary and more diverse visitor.

What Is All The Fuss About?

Without doubt Boutique Hotels are certainly trending right now: And as Llandudno is doing the same it seems logical that they are starting to pop up around the town. But what exactly is it all the fuss about? What is soooo ´hip' about Boutique Hotels! For a lot of people unique and ´hip´design is one of the major things which defines and differentiates a Boutique Hotel from all the rest. However, overall the definition of a ´Boutique Hotel´ seems to have broadened over the last twenty years or so: Primarily due (I feel) to the large corporations blurring the edges so they can jump aboard.

Good or Bad... It's An Experience

One of our favourite Hotels in Llandudno has just eleven individually designed guest rooms: And we plan to stay in every one of them! Eventually.... We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this place which has an Asian ethnic theme running through. Of course, that works for us but it might not work for you: But that´s the great appeal and plus of Boutique Hotels - They are all very different which means regardless of whether you love it or hate it, you will have experienced ´something´ out of the ordinary: Perhaps even extraordinary. Indeed we have found that even a bad Boutique experience makes for an interesting and even humorous conversation piece! It can be a lot of fun.

The latest thing or no: To some, Boutique Hotels may seem much ado about nothing. Obviously we disagree. In fact, we actively seek them out! And have had a lot of great experience by doing so. On the whole we have found the Boutique Hotels in Llandudno are of a high standard: Some we enjoyed more than others but that´s the real thing.......More than anything Boutique Hotels are really about the ´individual thing´... And for us that´s so much more important than what´s the latest thing.
