How to Install Ruger Carbine Barrel Band - Which Way Does it Go?
Every one of the barrel bands I've seen for these guns has mold marks in one side, down where the screw goes. Naturally, you want to place those towards the rear, where they will be hidden against the stock. It's an easy way to tell which way the barrel band goes on.
On both of these guns, the head of the screw ends up on the left side of the rifle. Just slide the band onto the barrel and stock, make sure it's snug against that step in the forearm where the forearm starts to get big, and tighten 'er down.
As you slide it on, you might need to spread it with your screwdriver to keep it from scratching the stock.
