• 1). Open the "Start" menu, select "All Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools" and then click "Activate Windows."
  
  
• 2). Choose "Yes, let's activate Windows over the Internet now" from the available options.
  
  
• 3). Choose "Yes, I want to register and activate Windows at the same time" or "No, I don't want to register now; let's just activate Windows." Registration is optional. You must read the terms if you choose to register at the same time.
  
  
• 4). Click "Next" to establish a connection with the Microsoft Servers.
  
  
• 5). Wait for the success message to appear and click "OK" to close the activation window.
  
  

Via Telephone

• 1). Open the "Start" menu, select "All Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools" and then click "Activate Windows."
  
  
• 2). Choose "Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows now" from the available options.
  
  
• 3). Click "Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement," review the terms and press "Back" when finished. Click "Next" to proceed.
  
  
• 4). Call the number displayed in the "Activate Windows by Phone" window, follow the instructions and fill in the required information.
  
  
• 5). Click "OK" once the success message is displayed.
