Definition of Bullet Base as it Pertains to Guns and Shooting
The base of a bullet is its rear end. The base of a bullet loaded in metallic ammunition will not be visible, as it will be surrounded by the cartridge case.
Bullet bases are most often flat, but some bullets have hollow bases. Most bullet bases are of full diameter, but some bases are noticeably narrower than the largest portion of the bullet.
