Ayurveda Gives New Meaning to Clean Eating

Ayurveda, what? Well, don't be surprised when people ask you just what that gibberish thing you just said. It is very evident in the way of life of most people nowadays that they don't know what Ayurveda is Ayurveda is the science of life and a holistic approach in healing the body and mind and regards food as a medicine. Ayurveda offers tips for "clean" eating as per individual's unique body constitution.  This means you will be able to achieve and maintain good health just with eating foods that are right for you to maintain your body's balance and energy.

The word "Clean Eating" takes on a whole new meaning in Ayurvedic context.  Every individual is unique in their physio-psychological body constitution.  So to keep the optimal health, an individual must eat favorable foods as demanded by his or her body constitution.  Eating these favorable foods keep the system "clean" by having proper digestion and elimination with leaving minimal of toxins behind.  In fact, not only the right foods don't leave many toxins behind, they also help clean the body of accumulated toxins.  

As your body accumulates toxins from negative energies like stress, unsuitable foods, and pollutions, Ayurveda stresses the ways to detoxify your system continuously simply with eating clean diet as per your body constitution.  So it is very important that you know your body constitution to form suitable selection of foods- foods that not only nourish but also help keep your body clean & free of toxins.

Another tip for eating clean is to usually eat warm cooked food as it aids in proper digestion.  You should always eat in moderation and leave the table with your stomach ¾ full rather absolutely full.  This will help with clean digestion with flatulence or discomfort plus it will help you keep your body systems clean by keeping toxins from accumulating in the first place.   

Support you clean eating habit with regular exercising.  The exercise routine can be a combination of aerobics, yoga, weights, resistance, and meditation.   With yoga & meditation you keep your body both physically and mentally balanced.  Overall, the combination of these exercises will keep you calm, improve your metabolism, promote good digestion and prevent bowel issues. In addition, exercising will help you burn toxins and that supports to keep the body clean.

Eating according to Ayurvedic philosophy also means paying attention to your state of mind and support your mind by clean eating.  Let me explain what I mean; when you are feeling nervous, you should avoid eating raw foods and salads, when you are feeling cold then you should stay away from dairy products and sweets, and when you are feeling angry or irritated, you should avoid eating spicy foods.  If you do not follow these rules, body accumulates toxins and creates imbalance or unstable mind.

By following these simple tips, you add another dimension and give a whole new meaning to clean eating and keeping healthy.
