How to Cool Cakes
- 1). Remove cake from oven using oven mitts. Place cake pan on trivet or other heatproof surface.
- 2). Allow cake to cool for 10 to 15 minutes in the pan. Do not attempt to remove cake prematurely since it may break or crumble.
- 3). Place two layers of paper towels on top of wire rack while cake cools in pan. Paper towels will help prevent cake damage from rack. Place rack near cake for easy access later.
- 4). Loosen the edges of the cake with a knife. Put on oven mitts. Lift cake pan. Invert cake onto wire racks. Allow cake to cool on rack until desired temperature is reached.
