Organizing Your Family"s Regional Calamity Escape Kit

6
Being organized is quite important, and sometimes it is a matter of life and death.
Let me give you one for instance, and let you think about this for a moment.
Does your family have an evacuation kit? If there is a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, flood, or civil unrest - does your family have a plan, and do you have supplies ready so you can depart your premises of wherever you live, and survive for many days on end without any help from anyone else? If your answer is yes, then good for you, but if the answer is no, then perhaps we might discuss this.
First of all, it takes a lot to survive.
We are talking about water, food, and things of this nature.
Additionally, you will need these things packed up using as little space as possible, and preventing too much weight.
You should have a large duffel bag with everything inside you need to survive, that is to say you and anyone you are responsible for including your wife, and/or children.
This means you need to organize your family's regional calamity escape plan as I call it.
As I said, weight is a big problem, so is space.
If everything in our society and civilization turns to chaos, you might not have enough room in the trunk of your car to put all of your belongings, valuables, and those things that you can't live without.
You may wish to take your laptops, smart phones, and other devices.
Even if you can't use them now, you at least have the data stored on them.
You should also have thumb drives of all of your important digital information backed up.
If the region in which you live is left in shambles, at least you will have your data and information with you wherever you go.
Perhaps sometime in the future electricity will be restored, or you will go to a new location where there is running water, food, shelter, and electricity.
What kinds of things might you need? You might need extra battery packs, flashlights, blankets, and enough food or water for a week, at minimum.
Do you have this? And even if you do can you fit it all in a duffel bag that you can throw in your trunk as you head out of town.
What if you can't take your car, can you carry that duffel bag, can you hike your way out, that is to say - if you and your family have to leave on foot? If not perhaps you should put it into were three duffel bags, where the strongest members of your family can carry one each.
Organization can sometimes be a matter of life and death, so don't rely on the government to take care of you.
Please consider all this and think on it.
