How to Make Your Own Jewelry Display Cards
- 1). Measure the desired dimensions of the jewelry display card on a sheet of cardstock. Cardstock is thicker and of better quality than construction paper and is available in the scrapbooking aisle of most craft stores. Sizes for the display cards will vary based on the type of jewelry you are displaying; opera-length necklaces require long cards, while earrings need smaller cards.
- 2). Outline the jewelry display card on the cardstock with a straight, light pencil line.
- 3). Cut along the outline using sharp household scissors or a paper cutter.
- 4). Position the jewelry item onto the face of the cut cardstock as you would like to have it displayed. For necklaces, bracelets and other strand jewelry as well as clip-on earrings, punch two attachment holes into the cardstock. Attachment holes for necklaces are often near the top of the jewelry display card; bracelets and earrings may be placed in the center, depending on the length of the pieces. The attachment holes for bracelets are often on each end of the bracelet as it is open and stretched on the card.
- 5). Make a light pencil mark on the cardstock indicating the attachment-hole spots. Use a hole punch to make holes over the pencil lines.
- 6). Decorate the cards with your logo, a rubber stamp, stickers and other written information before you attach the jewelry.
- 1). Open the clasp on a necklace. Feed one end of the necklace through each attachment hole on the cardstock. Pull the ends through the holes until the necklace displays the desired drape on the front of the card. Hook the clasp back together. Tape the excess necklace to the back of the card.
- 2). Open the clasp on a bracelet. Stretch the bracelet over the face of the cardstock so that the ends are positioned over the attachment holes. Feed a twist tie through the hole, from back to front. Wrap the tie around the bracelet and feed the end back through the attachment hole. Twist the tie on the back of the jewelry display card. Attach the other end of the bracelet in the same way.
- 3). Open the back of a clip-on earring. Feed the back of the earring through the attachment hole on the display card so that the front of the earring hangs below the attachment hole. Clip the earring closed.
- 4). Position pierced earrings in the desired location on the display card. Puncture holes in the display with the back of the earring or with a needle. Attach the back of the earring to the back of the card.
