How to Wire a 2000 Silverado Dual Battery
- 1). Use an adjustable wrench to disconnect the negative (black) battery cable. Turn the wrench counterclockwise to loosen the terminal clamp then pull off the cable from the existing battery. Repeat this process to remove the positive (red) battery cable.
- 2). Place a new battery in the truck next to the existing battery with the terminals in the same position. For example, if the existing battery has the positive terminal on the right, place the new battery next to it with the positive terminal on the right.
- 3). Connect a new battery cable between the existing battery and the new battery on their positive terminals. Tighten the cables with the adjustable wrench. Repeat this step to connect both batteries' negative terminals together.
- 4). Attach the negative battery cable from the truck to the existing battery on the negative terminal. Connect the truck's positive battery cable to the existing battery's positive terminal. Tighten each battery cable with the adjustable wrench.
- 1). Remove the battery cables from both the positive and negative terminals on the existing battery in the truck. Turn the nuts counterclockwise to loosen them with an adjustable wrench then pull the cables off the battery.
- 2). Set a new battery next to the existing battery with the positive terminal in the same position as the existing battery.
- 3). Connect a new battery cable onto the negative terminal of the existing battery. Connect the other end of the battery cable onto the positive terminal of the new battery. Tighten the nuts with the adjustable wrench.
- 4). Attach the negative battery cable from the truck to the negative terminal of the new battery. Attach the positive battery cable from the truck to the positive terminal of the existing battery. Tighten the bolts on each cable with the adjustable wrench.
