How to Change Startup Processes in Vista
- 1). Click "Start" on the desktop taskbar and type "msconfig" into the search field. Press "Enter." A System Configuration window will appear.
- 2). Click the "Startup" tab. Scroll through the list of available processes. Light-gray processes without a check mark in the check box are disabled; black processes with a check mark are enabled.
- 3). Uncheck processes that you no longer want launched upon startup; check the boxes next to processes that you want to launch automatically when the computer is turned on. Click "Apply." Close the System Configuration window.
- 4). Restart the computer, then log in. Open the Task Manager by pressing "Ctrl+Alt+Del" and selecting "Task Manager" from the list.
- 5). Click the "Processes" tab. Scroll through the list of running processes to ensure the changes you made to System Configuration were applied.
