How to Make Cool Pop Up Invitations for Kids
- 1). Place a piece of colored construction paper on a flat surface so that the long sides are vertical and the shorter side is closest to you. Fold the paper in half so that the bottom edge meets the top edge.
- 2). Turn the folded seam towards you, and cut two slits in the paper that are about one inch long. The slits should be about two inches apart, and the section between the slits should be as centered as possible.
- 3). Turn the paper around so that the seam is now facing away from you. Open the paper and stick your finger in one of the slits, gently tugging the separated section towards you. Flatten the section in the middle to the table so that it folds in half, and then refold the paper, creasing both folded sections. When the paper is closed, there should be a missing rectangle in the center of the paper.
- 4). Open the card, and write a message on the top portion of the paper, such as "It's Michael's Birthday!" Use markers, crayons, or colored pictures to write the details of the party, and use stickers, glitter and other embellishments to add color.
- 5). Find a picture of balloons or a birthday cake online or in a magazine and cut it out. Unfold the paper, and apply glue to the bottom part of the area in between the slits, below the small crease. Press the picture to this glued section. Allow the glue to dry.
- 6). Close the card and write a personalized message on the front and finish by decorating the card with pictures, glitter, stickers and any other embellishments of your choice.
