How to Steam Clean Clothes With a Washer
- 1). Sort your clothes by color. Steam clean whites, light colors and durable fabrics. The steam's high heat is not ideal for dark, colored or delicate items.
- 2). Add your clothes to the washer and close the door. Add measured laundry detergent to the compartment if desired. This may be located on the top of the washer. High efficiency detergent is recommended for front-loading washers.
- 3). Turn on the washer and select a steam wash option. Some washers have a steam-only option, while others have steam in addition to a normal wash. The steam-only wash does not require detergent, and the running time is shorter than a regular wash cycle.
- 4). When the clothes are finished, remove them from the washer and hang them to dry or run them through a dryer cycle.
