My Tumble Dryer Is Not Turning
- The driver belt is responsible for turning the clothes drum. If the belt is worn out or breaks, the drum will stop rotating. The location of the driver belt varies with different dryer models, so refer to your device's manual for the location. If the belt is damaged, you need to replace it together with the idler pulley on which the belt rotates.
- If you hear a humming or loud noise coming from the dryer motor, it is likely burned out. To check the motor, remove the belt, referring to your dryer's manual for specific information, and check for any interferences including dirt, wires and objects around the blower fan housing. Try rotating the shaft of the motor. If it does not move freely, check the idler pulley and clothes drum.
- Make sure the door is properly closed or the drum will not tumble. Check the door switch located on the inside of the dryer near the door frame. If the switch is damaged, you will need to replace it. Contact your dryer's manufacturer for replacement parts.
- Repairing a dryer can be a difficult process if you are not familiar with advanced troubleshooting steps and guidelines. To avoid damaging your dryer any further, contact a qualified appliance technician.
