Sometimes, you also have to be aware of other types of protein, such as wheat based protein. Your homemade treats must then not exceed 10 percent of your ferret’s diet. Some of the most basic homemade treats for ferrets are made up of meat. Remember that ferrets are capable of eating raw meat so it is totally fine if you consider making it their treats. You can try giving baby food that is made from chicken or turkey, making sure that it does not contain high fiber content and absolutely no sugar. Other meat based treats you can give are ground turkey or patty, and even raw organs such as gizzards and hearts.

At times, you can even heat the treat that you have prepared in order to get rid of bacteria.  In addition, you can add a small amount of Ferretone into the treat which basically a food supplement which provides the essential fatty acids for your ferret. Ferrets do love Ferretone and it is indeed suggested that you provide them with it.

Other good homemade ferret treats may not necessarily be in the form of meat. Instead, you can give them non-sweet cereals, raisins, peas and bananas. In addition, you can even provide cat food for your ferret. This will give him the idea that as long as he acts properly as he is trained, then he can expect treats at the end of the session.
