Traditionally children end up with some sort of candy in their Easter baskets, and mine did too; until last year.
Last year I got tired of buying a bunch of junk to fill their baskets with.
I really didn't want my girls to have so much candy.
So, I went and bought bunnies for Easter.
Yes, I'm talking about live rabbits, and my girls LOVED it! They still got a little bit of candy, but the bunnies were a big hit.
They have so much fun playing with those rabbits that I am thinking of doing it again this year.
Rabbits are a little bit of work, and finding the right rabbit takes a little bit, smaller breeds work well for children as they are easier for them to handle but too small means very fragile and may not work as well.
My favorite breeds so far for children are; Netherland Dwarf, Holland Lop, Lion's Mane, and Mini Rex.
All of these are small enough for children to handle comfortably but not so small as to be a risk of injury or death to the rabbit in being handled.
There are also some great guides out their that will help with learning what you need to do for your bunny and you can find tons of rabbits online if you look for a rabbitry.
These should give you a list of breeders and you can look for a local one is you wish.
All in all, rabbits can be a great pet for children.
