How to Eliminate Dell DataSafe From My Computer
- 1). Open your Dell computer's "Start" menu and type the word "Services" into the "Search" box at the bottom of the menu. Click the "Services" icon that appears at the top of the search results.
- 2). Scroll through the list of services listed underneath the "Name" heading in the panel at the right side of the new window. Double-click the service named "Dell DataSafe." Click the "Startup Type" drop-down menu and choose the "Disabled" option. Click "Apply."
- 3). Close the window and return to the "Start" menu. Click "Restart" and wait for the operating system to shut down and turn back on. Access the "Start" menu again and click "Control Panel."
- 4). Click the link labeled "Programs and Features" to bring up a list of all the software installed on your hard drive. Scroll down to the "Dell DataSafe" option. Click the option and click the "Uninstall" button near the top of the window.
- 5). Click the "Next" button at each prompt to uninstall the Dell DataSafe files from your computer. Click "Finish" to close the uninstall program and return to the "Start" menu. Click "Computer" and double-click the "C" drive.
- 6). Open the "Program Files" menu and check to see if a folder labeled "Dell DataSafe" is still listed. Right-click the folder and select "Delete" if the folder is present. Open the "Common Files" folder and check to see if the "Dell DataSafe" sub-folder is listed. Right-click and delete the folder if it is present.
- 7). Navigate to the desktop and right-click the "Recycle Bin" icon. Click the "Empty Recycle Bin" option. Restart your operating system again to finish the process.
