Hyundai Accent Sunroof Removal
- To access the Accent's sunroof mechanism you must remove the interior roof liner. Start with the plastic trim pieces; remove all the screws and disconnect the fastening clips. Remove the roof lamp, and the liner panel will be held by just a few clips. Lower the panel and slide it into the back seat--no need to try and wiggle it out of the car.
- The sunroof panel sits in guides to the left and right, and is operated by a motor in the back. Remove the motor attachment so the sunroof panel slides freely in the guides, then unscrew just one of the guide tracks and release it from the Accent's ceiling panel. At this point the sunroof will not be supported on one side.
- With the sunroof guide removed, the glass panel will now freely lower on one side. Once it's down about two inches, slide it out of the opposite guide. Carefully lower it and remove it from the car.
- If the sunroof panel was removed because of mechanical or electrical problems, the glass panel will be reinstalled when the repair work is complete. As such, protect the panel from damage--do not lay it down on a driveway or up against a wall. Wrap the panel in large bathroom towels and place it away from any foot traffic, children and pets.
