How to Build a Plasma Cutter Cart

26
Large scale industrial-sized plasma cutters controlled with computer numerical control (CNC) are not the only plasma cutters in use.
A number of plasma arc cutters are available for small industries and amateur use too.
Apart from being affordable, these cutters are also easier to handle.
Small plasma machines are powered by the common wall outlet.
They are usually hand-held and are often mounted on a movable base, which can be moved around the shop when required.
Plasma cutting machines themselves weigh around 75 lbs, and when mounted, they are a lot easier to move.
These carts can be purchased, but you can build one pretty easily yourself with a some bolts, a sheet of plywood and an old push lawn mower.
Plasma Cutter Cart Building Instructions
  1. To serve as the base of the cart, you will need an old or discarded lawn mower.
Get one from your neighbor, if he can spare one or the local auction.
Make sure that its wheels are in working condition.
If the wheels need replacing then replace them.
  2. Remove the engine and blades of the lawn mower.
  3. Mount a piece of wood 24-inch by 24-inch size on the base.
Use a piece that is ¾ inch thick.
To mount, drill through the plywood and the lawn mower base and then attach with nuts and bolts.
Make sure they are nice and tight.
  4. Mark holes for the plasma machine mounting points.
  5. Drill these holes, which you have to do through the plywood and the base.
  6. Using long bolts and nuts to attach the plasma cutter to the base.
Make sure that you have tightened the bolts and use washers.
