How to Wind a Bump Reel on an Echo Weed Trimmer
- 1). Determine what gauge trimmer line is required. This information can be found in your owner's manual.
- 2). Measure and cut approximately 10 feet of line. Locate the halfway point of the weed-eater line and fold the line there to create two equal portions of line.
- 3). Find the notch on your weed-eater spool, and slide the folded line into the notch at the halfway point, or vertex. Now half the line will be in the top track, and half will be in the lower track. Notice the directional arrows on your spool; these determine the direction in which to wind the line.
- 4). Wind the two portions of line into the two tracks of the spool. It is important to refrain from twisting or kinking the weed-eater line as you wind. Turning the spool rather than the line will prevent this.
- 5). Stop winding the spool when there are approximately 6 inches of line remaining on both tracks. Insert the spool into the weed-eater head, threading the line through both eyelets.
- 6). Snap the spool into place. Trim the line to approximately 4 inches, if necessary.
