How to Repair a Troy Built Tb70-SS
- 1). Remove the trimmer's fuel cap and check the fuel tank if the trimmer does not start. If it is low or empty, refill the tank.
- 2). Locate the primer bulb on the upper-left side of the trimmer (it is the soft bulb you can push) and push it at least 10 times, then try to start the trimmer.
- 3). Squeeze the trimmer's trigger and, while still holding the trigger, pull the starter rope. This helps if the engine has been flooded.
- 4). Drain the current fuel from the trimmer's tank and add fresh fuel. It is possible that the fuel currently inside the trimmer has gone bad.
- 5). Wait for the trimmer's engine to cool. Locate the spark plug (found on the lower-left side of the trimmer's engine). Grab the spark plug wire firmly and pull it out of the spark plug, then take a 5/8-inch socket and use it to turn the spark plug counter-clockwise to remove the spark plug. Clean the spark plug with a cloth, then use the 5/8-inch socket to reinstall the spark plug by turning it clockwise until it fits firmly back on the engine's cylinder head.
- 6). Check the temperature. Both cold and hot weather can make it difficult to start the trimmer. If the temperature is below 40 degrees, you may need to pull the starter rope 10 to 15 times before the trimmer starts. If the temperature is above 90 degrees, squeeze the trimmer's throttle control and, while continuing to hold the throttle control, pull the starter rope until the trimmer starts.
