If you take a quick trip down the aisle of your local drugstore or any store that sells vitamins and supplements, you will find product after product that promotes better "joint health." The labels coax us to improve our joint health. Seems like something everyone should do, right?

Come to think of it, what is joint health? If we buy any of the products that are marketed to improve joint health, what are we trying to do and what are the products promising to do?


The supplements are not inexpensive. But there are some consumers who believe expensive equals effective. A savvy shopper wants to know what they are getting for their money.

Joint health implies that your joint is functioning properly with no pain, normal range of motion, and healthy cartilage. Products promising better joint health are suggesting they can improve:

Are Joint Health Products Just Hype?


Generally-speaking, extensive conclusions about most supplements are lacking. Dietary supplements are essentially unregulated. They can be marketed with little scientific research to back up their presumed safety and effectiveness. Some say it is hope in a bottle. Be sure to discuss supplements with your doctor before spending money on products that promote joint health.
