10
There are so many chicken coop plans available online and many of them can be quite costly.
Some of the plans involve a skill level that cannot be met by the regular homeowner who want to raise chickens as a hobby.
There is one idea that is surfacing that makes for an effective chicken coop without having to spend so much for it.
Think of an old dog house that is no longer in use and is just there in the storage gathering dust and goodness what other critters that crawl.
Take out the old dog house and clean it up.
If need be, paint it to give it a more updated look.
Now, if there are no chicken wires in store, there may be a need to buy some.
There are wire chicken wires and there are those made of pvc or plastic.
The pvc are cheaper and they are available in sheets or rolls.
Buy enough to surround not just the dog house but about two or three meters on either side of a rectangular shaped coop.
Add another sheet that measures out for the top portion that will enclose the chickens inside.
Get hold of six or eight plastic pegs measuring about two or three feet in height, the number should depend on how long the coop is going to be.
Now, get hold of some pvc pipes that can be used to support the upper portion.
Connect the pegs and pvc pipes together with a T connector.
Assemble the coop and place the dog house inside.
When assembling, make sure the coop is placed under a shady tree, or somewhere that is not too hot.
This coop can be easily transferred from one location to another after the area had been thoroughly used by the chickens enjoying their fun on the ground.
There are plenty of chicken coop plans online to follow and depending on the carpentry skill level of the homeowner, these can be easily followed.
There are also plenty of plans available in farmer's and agricultural magazines as well as free plans printed on brochures of chicken feed suppliers.
There is really no need to pull out the wallet and spend for these plans as most of them are for free.
There are also chicken coop kits available that when delivered, can be easily assembled and used by the chickens within a few hours.
