How to Troubleshoot a Heatilator Electric Fireplace
- 1). Check the unit's propane tank, and refill as needed, if your Heatilator electric fireplace ignitor won't light the pilot light or if the pilot and main burner go out during operation. These problems might also indicate a dirty or clogged vent cap. Remove the vent cap from atop your chimney, thoroughly hose it down, and allow it to air-dry before you replace it.
- 2). Remove debris or foreign objects from the burner orifice -- the nozzle that feeds gas into the burner -- if the pilot burns but there is no burner flame, even when the valve knob is set to “On.”
- 3). Locate the opening at the base of the fireplace's burner, if you're experiencing a buildup of soot on the fireplace's glass. Remove any debris or foreign objects that obscure the opening.
- 4). Tighten the glass face of the fireplace with a screwdriver, focusing especially on the top corners. This helps remedy blue-burning flames, a sign of insufficient oxygen supply.
- 5). Locate your fireplace's model number and serial number, found inside the operating door or in the lower controls cavity, if problems persist. Use Heatilator's online dealer locator to find a dealer near you. Heatilator recommends contacting dealers for advanced troubleshooting and repair procedures. Start the troubleshooting process by telling the dealer your model number and your specific problem.
