How to Build an Above Ground Pool
- 1). Level the area in which you will be building your above-ground pool. With a rake or shovel, clear the area of stones and exposed tree roots, which will tear the lining. You also need to remove 1" of top soil from this area. The space you clear should be 1' larger than the diameter of your pool.
- 2). Set patio bricks in the area you have cleared for the pool. The bricks will be hidden under the pool, so they need to cover that entire space. The patio bricks will ring the pool area back up to the grass level, and will prevent the pool from sinking.
- 3). Assemble the bottom plate of the pool. Lay the plate on the patio bricks and begin building the pool on this layer. Make sure it is centered on the patio bricks.
- 4). Assemble the bottom ring of the pool and lay it on top of the bottom plate. Begin assembling the wall, which amounts to unrolling it. Secure it to the bottom ring and add the upright supports to the outside of the pool to form the wall and hold it in place.
- 5). Pour the pre-sifted sand into the pool shell and use the rake to spread it around until it is even. The sand needs to be about 1" deep to ensure adequate coverage and prevent the patio bricks from cutting your liner.
- 6). Add the pool liner and secure it to the top rim of the pool wall. This rim will snap into place and will hold the liner in place. Fill the pool with water and hook up the filter.
