How to Replace an RV Refrigerator's Thermistor
- 1). Turn off the gas supply to the RV refrigerator at the shut-off valve on the propane tank before attempting to replace the thermistor. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet and disconnect the gas line on the back of the refrigerator with a Crescent wrench from the outside access door.
- 2). Unfasten the screws on the bracket that secures the refrigerator to the floor with a screwdriver and pull the refrigerator away from the cabinet. Remove the hex-head screws that fastens the rear panel to the back of the refrigerator with a nut driver and take the panel off the back of the refrigerator.
- 3). Locate the metal fins on the lower section of the refrigerator and detach the thermistor electrical wiring connector from the refrigerator. Detach the thermistor from the fins and remove it from the RV refrigerator.
- 4). Attach the new thermistor to the metal fins of the refrigerator and fasten the electrical wiring connector to the refrigerator. Secure the rear panel to the back of the refrigerator with the hex-head screws.
- 5). Fasten the refrigerator to the floor by sliding it back in place and using screws to secure the bracket on the refrigerator to the floor. Attach the gas line to the back of the refrigerator and plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
- 6). Open the shut off valve on the propane tank to restore the gas supply to the RV refrigerator.
