    • Windows 98 is an operating system developed and released by Microsoft in 1998 as a successor to its massively popular Windows 95 operating system. In order to upgrade your computer from Windows 95 to 98, your computer will need to meet a number of requirements in order for the operating system to work properly.

    66 Mhz or Higher Processor

    • The system functions utilized by Windows 98 will need to use a processor with a speed of at least 66 Megahertz.

    16MB of RAM

    • The programs that constantly run with Windows 98 will need to make use of at least 16 Megabytes of RAM.

    CD-ROM or Floppy Drive

    • The operating system can be installed using either a CD or floppy disk.

    Standard Sound Card

    • Any sound card that worked with Windows 95 will work with Windows 98 as well.

    VGA Video Card

    • Any video card that can accommodate VGA resolution will work with Windows 98.

    Microsoft-Compatible Keyboard and Mouse

    • Any Microsoft-compatible keyboard and mouse can be used with Windows 98.

    DirectX 5.0
