A fundraiser must be easy, fast and profitable to put together and run. If your organization has decided on a homemade candy fundraiser, if may be your job to come up with some good recipes. Chocolate may be your best seller, so make sure to have plenty of chocolate options. This also means that your location must be in a cool area. Having your fundraiser outdoors in the hot sun will see your profits melting in no time flat. - This candy is fun for any age to enjoy. Open each Oreo cookie up, just the way you see it done on television commercials. Dip the end of a sucker stick, found online or in craft shops, in melted chocolate. You'll need to use the kind of chocolate that hardens, such as Guittard. Place the stick in the center of the cookie and place the halves back together. Dip the cookie into melted chocolate. Choose milk, dark and white chocolate for variation. Pour a different colored chocolate than you used on the Oreo into a squeeze bottle with a small opening. Decorate the pop with swirls, dots or lines. Place the pops in the refrigerator to harden. Wrap each pop in a square of clear cellophane or plastic wrap. Tie the cellophane around the stick with a thin ribbon or cording.
- Fudge is recognized by almost everyone. Some chocolate lovers believe it to be a food staple. You'll certainly want to make the traditional chocolate fudge, with nuts and without. There are plenty of other types of fudge to consider, such as peanut butter fudge, peppermint fudge, white chocolate fudge, coconut fudge, maple fudge and vanilla cranberry fudge. Sales will be faster if you have different sized packages of fudge ready to go. Some patrons will only want a couple of pieces, while others will want extra to take home and share with their families.
- Peanut brittle is another one of those candies that most everyone recognizes and enjoys. Again, don't stop at just making peanut brittle; consider almond brittle, cashew brittle and mixed nut brittle. Sell them in individual bags and in bags with all different types of brittle included. A microwave recipe will save you a lot of time when you have so much candy to make for a fundraiser. Be sure to offer nut-free brittle for those who are allergic to nuts. Just make plain brittle and dip the pieces in chocolate.
