Dating Explained
Basic Dating
Dating is a form of social activity that one person goes through in order to find a potential mate or a lifetime partner. The word 'dating' comes from the idea of setting up an exclusive meeting between two persons at a specific date, place, and time. Dating is usually arranged by a third party, either a family member, a friend, or a matchmaker with hopes that said arrangements would lead to a wonderful romance between the two subjects. Dates are often done in the form of entertainment like going out on a concert or movies, watching a soccer game together, or simply having a romantic dinner. These days, outgoing individuals look for adrenaline-rush and therefore engage in some outdoor and extreme activities like paintball, skiing, bungee jumping, hiking, scuba diving, kayaking, wakeboarding, and so on. These high-risk activities are fun and have been proven to create better bonding for would-be couples as these require complete trust and confidence in each other.
There are different types of dates; blind dates, regular dates, double date, group date, or holidating. Participants in blind dates most often have not met each other personally yet. They may have seen each other's pictures or have been on the same place at one time, yet they haven't been able to have an exclusive encounter. Blind dates are often first acquaintance and sometimes require the presence of a chaperone. Regular dates are what follow after the first date. When these two people find chemistry between them and both look forward to a potential future together, then they go through a series of dates. A double date is done when two couples decide to meet, go someplace for entertainment or a meal, and just share excellent time together. Group date is shared by two or more couples and is commonly held in public places or parties. While "holidating" means a couple who don't see each other regularly, due to factors like work, career, or long distances, decides to spend holiday/s together. A summer getaway in some remote island is perfect for holidating.
Recently, more dating alternatives sprung particularly on the web. Online dating is very popular particularly in younger generations. Matchmaking services are also made available.
Dating is supposed to be fun and exciting. When going out on a date, it's always better to be prepared. Do not go out on a date half-heartedly as this will only lead to disappointment, and worse, a bad impression. A little research on your would-be date's personal style, character, and preferences is not bad; just don't overdo it, as it will only lead to biases even prior your first encounter. Make an effort to look pleasing. If not dashing or gorgeous; at least try to be neat and charming. And lastly, be on time. If you can't make it, at least inform your date days before the arranged date. Being stood-up is the worst, and you don't want that to happen, do you?
