Hello, this is Gail Gates. Let's learn how to keep a pond from going green so you will have a beautiful garden feature. A green pond is caused by lots of sunshine and heat and it is also caused by dust too. Most green ponds are large bodies of water. We're not talking about small backyard patio ponds. We're talking about large half acre, quarter acre ponds such as this one. This pond happens to be green but if we add pond dye then that will block out the sun and then eliminate the algae. You could also try getting rid of the ducks but chances are they will come back.
