New Concept to Control Flash Mobs and Social Media Gatherings Using Smart Phone Features
When you go and purchase a SmartPhone these days, the service providers and sales people ask all sorts of questions.
They want to know who you are, where you live, and personal data - and it's not that the company shouldn't know who they are dealing with, or that they don't already have all your information anyway, it's that many folks cringe at the prospect of giving out more personal information for reasons of privacy.
Further, we know that most all of the large corporations of this type have had cyber hacking attacks and breaches of data of 10s of thousands of customers.
Not good at all.
Nevertheless, since they have this data, why not cross-reference it with the police records and if someone's information is duplicated for criminal activity such as; petty theft, larceny, extortion, assault, battery, terrorist threat, grand theft, embezzlement, sexual assault, hate crime, or burglary then the features such as those used in Flash Mobs, simply will be disabled.
As we watched the flash mobs in London, which turned into riots, or rather perhaps they were demonstrations, which turned into riots, which turned into flash mobs and looting, but regardless of the case that's unacceptable.
When you have that many hooligans out running around looting stores, setting cars on fire, breaking windows, you don't have a society or civilization left.
Those with criminal intent or no sense of decency, ethics, honesty, or integrity in large groups cause a huge problem.
Worse when they get in these big groups and mobs they act like rabid dogs, as we saw when we watched our international television reports from the BBC, CNN, Russian TV, and the other major news networks on cable TV here the United States.
Of course we are not without flash mob challenges in our own country.
Consider if you will the challenges we've had with groups of young folks in Philadelphia and Detroit using their social networking tools on their smart phones to get together in large groups and converge on convenience stores running in and grabbing as many products as possible and running out.
Obviously, with a mob that large it's impossible to stop them using the employees, or security personnel.
After all they will be overrun by the swarm of humanity, if you can call it that.
Yes, they have closed-circuit TV, and hopefully they can get videos of all the individuals engaged in this criminal activity.
But perhaps we need to turn off these features they are using to commit these criminal acts if they have prior records.
These technologies are wonderful for positive things, but absolutely unfortunate when used for criminal activity.
Those who abuse the rights and privileges that come with these technologies to help better our civilization and society should not be allowed to use them.
