How to Remove Caliper Bolts

    • 1). Set the emergency brake of the vehicle and place a wood block behind one of the rear tires to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Loosen the lug nuts on the tire with a tire tool about one full turn.

    • 2). Lift up the vehicle with a floor jack and place a jack stand under the axle near the tire you are removing. Lower the vehicle so that it rests on the jack stand. Remove the floor jack.

    • 3). Take the tire off the wheel hub by unfastening the lug nuts with the tire tool. Set the tire aside. Locate the caliper bolts on the top and bottom of the brake caliper.

    • 4). Unfasten the brake caliper bolts with a socket wrench to loosen them until you can slide the bolts out of the caliper by hand. Set the bolts aside.
