How to Remove Windows Recovery Console at Start-Up

    • 1). Click the "Start" button and click "My Computer" or double-click the "My Computer" desktop icon.

    • 2). Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Folder Options." Go to the "View" tab of the "Folder Options" dialog box. Select the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" check box. Clear the "Hide Protected Operating System" check box. Click "OK" and click "Yes" at the prompt to confirm these changes.

    • 3). Double-click "Local Disk (C:)" or the drive onto which you installed Windows Recovery Console.

    • 4). Select the "cmdcons" folder and press "Delete." Click on the "cmldr" file and press "Delete." Right-click "boot.ini." and select Properties. Clear the "Read-only" check box.

    • 5). Double-click "boot.ini" to open it as a text file in Notepad or your default text editor. Select "C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons" and press "Delete." Go to the "File" menu and click "Save." Close the text editor window.

    • 6). Right-click "boot.ini." and select Properties. Select the "Read-only" check box and close the window. Go to the "Tools" menu of the "(C:)" window and select "Folder Options." Go to the "View" tab of the "Folder Options" dialog box. Clear the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" check box. Select the "Hide Protected Operating System" check box. Click "OK" and restart the computer.
