How to Tickle Catfish

35
    • 1). Search for a potential catfish hole. Catfish tend to dwell in old muskrat or beaver dens, hollowed-out logs beneath the surface of the water, crevices beneath rocks, and undercut banks.

    • 2). Block the catfish hole with small sandbags to prevent the catfish's escape. Leave an opening just large enough to insert both arms. Apply your gloves.

    • 3). Reach into the hole and feel around. If there is a catfish dwelling there, it will likely bite your hand as a defensive measure. When this happens, quickly reach in with the other arm and attempt to get a grip on the fish's gills.

    • 4). Wrestle the fish out of its dwelling and onto either the shore or your boat. As the catfish that dwell in the southern United States can grow in excess of 50 pounds, this can be an extremely daunting task that may require the assistance of a second person.
