8
At your 12 week of pregnancy, there would be a lot of wonderful changes on both your baby and of course your body.
Yeah that baby bump is wonderful! For this week, the most dramatic development of your baby would be his reflexes.
His fingers will start to open and close and his toes will curl.
His eye muscles will clench and his mouth will begin to make sucking movements.
That's pretty exciting right? Poke your abdomen gently and your baby will wriggle in response, you may not be able to feel it though at this time.
His intestines will protrude into the umbilical cord and will move into his abdominal cavity.
Soon enough, his kidneys will be excreting urine into his bladder.
The nerve cells would also multiply on your 12 week of pregnancy.
Synapses would form rapidly in your baby's brain as well.
His face would look undoubtedly human and the yes should have moved from the sides to the front of his head.
The ears would be right where they should be.
The baby's genitals may begin showing signs of being either male or female pretty soon.
What about the changes in your body on your 12 week of pregnancy? If you have freckles, you will notice that they will darken.
Some women notice a dark vertical line on their abdomen.
This is called the linea nigra.
Don't worry because this will fade within a few weeks of giving birth.
The skin surrounding your nipples and areolas will darken as well.
Asian women are more prone to this skin condition and that includes the armpits, around the nape and inner thighs.
Other women tend to develop patches of brown skin on their face and neck.
Just like the linea nigra, it will gradually fade after delivery.
Your skin is more sensitive during pregnancy so wearing sunblock is advisable.
Opt for a brand that is intended for sensitive or pregnant women.
Make sure you read the labels carefully.
