How to Repair a Key Switch for a 2001 Saturn L300 Sedan

    • 1). Open up the hood of your Saturn and find the battery. Use a wrench to remove the clamp attached to the negative battery terminal. Remove the negative cable away from the terminal.

    • 2). Enter the driver's seat of your vehicle and remove the screws attached to the steering column sleeve. Slide the sleeve away from the column.

    • 3). Remove the mounting bolts attached to the ignition switch with a wrench. Place the key in to the ignition and move it to the locked position. This will give you access to the retaining pin.

    • 4). Unclip the pin with a flathead screwdriver and lift the ignition switch and lock cylinder from the steering column.

    • 5). Attach a new ignition switch to the lock cylinder so that it locks in place with the locking tabs. Reattach the ignition assembly to the steering column by following the removal steps in reverse.
