The Christian Religion"s Guide to Child Training

11
Children are important to us as Christians.
Before they grow to take over from where we shall leave off they require thorough training.
The training begins with parental examples.
Like father, like son, goes the wise saying.
In Ezekiel 16:44 we have: '...
As is the mother so is the daughter.
' It deserves emphasis that you watch what you do because children start to learn from their parents' actions before they begin to learn from their words.
If a child lives where criticism is rife he learns to condemn.
Let him live in an atmosphere of hostility, he grows to fight.
Conversely, if a child's environment is one of tolerance, he learns to radiate patience.
If a child lives where there's acceptance and friendship, he learns to give off love.
The training starts from when they are babes.
Children need be taught, instructed, exhorted on the difference between right and wrong.
The process must be persuasive and need be matched with endearing encouragement.
See Proverbs 1:8, Ephesians 6:4.
Your corrective approach to your child's behavior should be one with love.
Avoid criticism, bitter words and cruel punishment.
If you don't, you lose him to confusion, which leads to discouragement.
A discouraged child resists training.
Children are never spoiled by positive encouragement.
God said: 'This is my beloved son ...
' Explanation must close every point on which a child receives punishment.
He needs to know why an action earns him punishment and not praise in order that he avoids it next time around.
Revert to Hebrews 12:6.
Our actions later in life enables them to find fulfillment in life even when their parents are no more.
Christian parents should also involve their children in bodily and mental exercises.
Parental participation is required.
Teach them proper communication skills.
Help them to understand how to receive and react in unpleasant situations.
We have to fend for and educate them as the importance of these will not get lost on them when they become parents.
Accept and love them always, and as real Christian religionists, stress the significance of obedience and carefulness to them.
