How to Install a Microphone on a PC With XP
- 1). Turn off your computer, if it is on.
- 2). Plug the microphone into the "Mic" jack on the side or back of your computer. The "Mic" jack may be labeled with a small picture of a microphone.
- 3). Turn on your computer.
- 4). Click "Start," "Control Panel."
- 5). Double click on the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon.
If using Windows Vista/7, click on "Hardware And Sound." Click "Manage Audio Devices" under the heading "Sound." - 6). Click on the "Voice" tab.
If using Windows Vista/7, click on the "Recording" tab. Click on your microphone. Click on the "Configure" button in the lower-left corner of the open dialog box. - 7). Click on the "Test hardware" button under the heading "Voice recording." You will see the brand name of your microphone in the box under the heading "Default device:." The "Sound Hardware Test Wizard" will open.
- 8). Click "Next." Your computer will test the microphone and install required drivers. If prompted, insert the CD-ROM that came with your microphone into your computer's CD/DVD drive.
- 9). Follow the on-screen prompts to test the microphone. Click "Next" when prompted after each microphone test.

Click "Finish" when prompted. Your microphone is installed and ready to use.
