Humor for Depressed People

If you are depressed, you are my best reader because my jokes are not so good.
Therefore, if you are already depressed, my jokes won't matter.
We'll conclude that you are too depressed to understand how funny what I told you was.
This is why I defined my position from the beginning: humor only for depressed people.
Of course, I didn't write the word "only" in the title because it would sound somehow like a prejudice: only depressed people can have the privilege of enjoying my jokes.
As you can see through my sentences, humor is very easy to create, even if you are depressed and you have several problems.
You can laugh with your pain.
I studied the psychology of humor in a book by Sigmund Freud with the same title.
This is the unique book he wrote that really helped me at a certain point! Of course, this book was related to all the other books I read, and that had a very important meaning.
By itself it was not so great...
Anyhow, this was only a reference without matter.
As a doctor, I try to cure my patients using many methods in addition to dream interpretation.
First of all, dream interpretation did not work with patients who have serious mental diseases because they don't relate their dreams.
The doctor can be helped only by one's own dreams since the unconscious can give him or her the necessary information about the patient's psychic condition.
This is how we can help schizophrenics and psychotics using dream interpretation.
The dreams are not simply images without meaning or fantasies.
They give us information all the time.
They are a source of knowledge and wisdom.
They are a better source than even the Internet! If you learn how to interpret your dreams, you learn how to read the unconscious' messages not only in your dreams but also in daily life, in symbols that you can identify.
I learned so much through dream interpretation that I can give you lessons forever about this subject and about how much you can discover, do and cure by interpreting your dreams.
Therefore, as I have already explained in my previous article "Humor Therapy against Depression," humor means indifference to what is really happening in your present reality.
It has a negative meaning when it is indifference to someone's pain, but it has a positive meaning when it is indifference to your own pain or to the mistakes made by other people.
Humor reflects goodness in these cases.
You must love goodness and care about it a lot, look for it, and stay with it during your entire life.
Be good even with bad people, forgive everyone and always remain balanced and conscious of your actions.
Control your behaviour and never lose it or hate anyone.
Live free from hate.
This is a terrible poison that destroys the hearts it infects.
Goodness and humor despite the several problems of life will help you continue your journey and come to a point where you will be always fine, no matter how everything outside you may be or how many problems you may have.
You'll even be able to start feeling better with your own jokes, even when things are very bad.
This type of humor is medicine for many pains and it is blessed, while the humor that is indifferent to human suffering is cruel and must only be condemned.
Now that I have given you the scientific explanation of this psychotherapy, start laughing please! Yes, you must do so because you have to cooperate with the doctor.
This is how my psychotherapy works.
If the patient doesn't cooperate, nothing can be done.
When I was at high school I went to a lunch with my mother certain Sunday, in her compatriot's house.
Fortunately, the food was very good, but our friend had the brilliant idea of telling us jokes after lunch, which ruined the nice atmosphere that was present in the beginning when we were hungry and happy for eating the delicious food...
Nothing was funny in the jokes even though everybody was looking at our friend and expecting something humorous from all the attention we were giving him...
However, he didn't care about that.
He started laughing at his own jokes as if they were funny and he was perfectly fine! Not sensing the lack of response from the audience...
In the silence of the dinning room at this moment that nobody else was happy besides that joker, I started laughing out loud.
I laughed so loud that everybody started laughing only because I started laughing, even though there was nothing funny to laugh about.
This is how you will find humor psychotherapy ideal for many of the situations of your life! Once I helped a group of German friends who were touring here in Greece, and went to a trip on a Greek friend's ship, even though the weather was not so good.
There was also a Brazilian friend who really wanted to make that trip...
I didn't want to go, but I couldn't abandon them.
So, we went for the adventure in the sea which already had many waves due to the excessively windy weather from the beginning...
Of course, at a certain point of time, water entered the ship, we were shaking too much and everybody was afraid we would sink...
I knew it was not a good idea to make that trip with that weather, but everybody else was really insistent! So, what happened? I started telling everyone several jokes related to the situation they were.
I asked them if everybody had made their testament.
I told them that we always make trips like that with tourists, so that they may agree to give us everything we ask them to in order to bring them back to solid earth again...
They were laughing and forgot about all the danger and the horrible situation we were in, while we were returning to the place where the nightmare had started.
We survived and lived until this day! After that lunch in which I deliberately laughed a lot, I wrote a joke to tell to my mother's compatriot on the next opportunity.
My joke was so long that it looked like a novel...
Nobody laughed of course, but I was laughing so much while telling this joke that everybody thought it should be very funny, since I was laughing so much! If they could listen to it, they would certainly laugh too.
Well, that was the impression they had...
You can always find ways to make fun of the most irrelevant points of your life, even when you are suffering and you are in trouble.
This will help you overcome your problems with a better disposition and you'll certainly find ways to always be glad if you analyze the simplest facts and events of your daily life with humor and irony!
