How to Edge a Flower Bed With a Weed Eater
- 1). Start the engine on your Weed Eater and let it run for a few minutes to warm up. Put on all the required protective clothing, such as safety glasses, earplugs and leather gloves.
- 2). Hold the rear handle and throttle trigger with your right hand and the front handle with your left hand. Hold the trimmer at waist level, about 5 inches from your body. Throttle the trigger fully and move it slowly into the first area of the weeds. Cut with just the tip of the Weed Eater's string.
- 3). Pan the cutting head slowly from right to left, working around the edge, cutting the tall grasses first from the top down. Move on to trimming around the flowerbed in the same manner. Throttle the trigger fully, but move the head slowly.
- 4). Turn the cutting head vertical if your Weed Eater model doubles as an edger. Hold the shaft of the trimmer, so the head is tilted on its axis, if you don't have an edger function on your model. Throttle the trigger and move slowly around the edge, working from right to left.
