The Millionaire Messenger by Brendon Burchard - Review

27
Title and Author: The Millionaire Messenger by Brendon Burchard Subtitle: Make a Difference and a Fortune Sharing Your Advice Synopsis of Content: This book has three parts: the author's personal story including his brush with death in an auto accident as a young man which led him to want to share the insight he gained from that experience; a description of how people become experts, market their expertise and finally a commentary on the expert "industry" and where the author believes it must go.
Burchard discusses star experts he has known and learned from including Tony Robbins.
He then describes how anyone with life experience, knowledge and skills can market that information.
He discusses what it takes to market oneself as an expert and how to grow a business with multiple streams of income by being an author, coach, blogger, teacher and public speaker.
He describes how he and many others have succeeded in these ventures.
His descriptions however are at a very general level.
This is not a true "how to" book and he does not give operating details.
He focuses on the general picture of what can be done and how one expands one's market and delivery formats.
This book is also an obvious marketing device for the author's Expert Academy, his platform for training "experts" including authors and speakers who want to leverage their work at a higher level of profitability.
Burchard mixes his conviction that this business must be based on a personal passion to teach and serve others while still making money.
Like most books of this type he mentions the large amounts of money he and others have made in this business but tends to gloss over the incredible amount of hard work required to be successful as an information marketer.
In one or two places he acknowledges that not everyone will realize spectacular success and suggests that one is only limited by one's own limiting thoughts on this.
In a few respects Burchard contradicts himself by suggesting that being an expert who markets his information is a way to lead an easier lifestyle while at other times discussing how grueling he himself has at times found this work.
To fully realize the potential business he describes requires thousands of hours of hard work and persistence, something you do not get a good sense of in the book.
At the end of the book the author levels some criticism at the lesser quality of some information marketing and the need to "professionalize" it.
He has created an association of "experts" to advance this cause.
Usefulness: As a high level overview of what can be done in the information marketing information and as an inspiration for those who would like to explore the concept the book is useful.
It tells you what can be achieved but now actually how one achieves it.
He suggests many times both directly and indirectly that the answer to the implementation questions can be answered by buying his products at his website.
Readability/Writing Quality: The book is well written and easy to follow.
The chapters are well organized and the book flows well.
Notes on Author: Brendon Burchard is an author and public speaker who operates the Experts Academy to train others on how to market their expertise and create multiple streams of income.
He is a high energy speaker.
Three Great Ideas You Can Use: 1.
Your life story, experience and knowledge have greater value if properly marketed than you might realize.
2.
To be an effective expert marketer you must continuously learn more - be a student as well as a teacher - and continue to expand the value you give.
3.
While it is possible to make money selling your information through a single modality, such as writing, videos, public speaking, seminars, etc.
, it is much more likely that you will realize great financial success only by exploiting a number of these areas all at once.
