How to Clean Throttle Body on Ford F250 5.8L
- 1). Locate the silver aluminum throttle body between the large black air intake tube and the intake manifold directly between the radiator and the engine. The throttle body has linkage connected to the right side of the housing. The linkage has several cables connected to it that are covered in a black protective coating.
- 2). Loosen the band clamp that holds the air intake tube onto the front of the throttle body with a screwdriver and then pull the tube off the throttle body.
- 3). Spray the inside of the throttle body with throttle body cleaner. Use a toothbrush to scrub the inside of the part. This includes the butterfly valve in the center of the throttle body bore. Add additional throttle body cleaner as needed.
- 4). Place the air intake tube back onto the front of the throttle body and tighten the clamp in place with the screwdriver.
- 5). Turn on the Ford F-250 and run the engine for a few minutes to rid the throttle body of any cleaner left.
