Correct Procedure to Rewind Electric String Trimmers
- 1). Disconnect the trimmer from the power source and place the unit on a flat area. Remove the spool cap by either unscrewing it from the power head with a screwdriver or popping off the spool hub. On some units, the cap is removed by pressing two plastic tabs together.
- 2). Remove the inner spool from the core and discard any remaining line on the spool. Remove any debris from the power head with a damp towel or brush.
- 3). Measure and cut 8 feet of replacement line, using a tape measure and snippers. Insert one end of the line into one of the grooves or holes on inside of the inner spool. Rewind the line in the direction of the arrows on the spool. Keep the rows of string level as you rewind. Stop winding with about 6 inches of line left.
- 4). Insert the end of the string trimmer line through the eyelet in the outer spool. Place the inner spool inside the spool hub. Replace the cap and the bump knob. Restore power to the trimmer.
