Kinds of Pavers

5

    Concrete Pavers

    • Concrete pavers are made of molded concrete, mixed sand, gravel and crushed stone. As a manufactured product, they come in a wide variety of colors and are able to withstand severe use, immune to the extremes of heat or cold. These pavers come in easy to install interlocking pieces, allowing for movement without forming surface cracks like poured concrete. Usually less expensive than natural stone, their non-skid surface makes them ideal for frequently used walkways and driveways.

    Brick Pavers

    • Brick pavers are composed of stain resistant clay, making it a durable product for use on pathways and patios. Because brick can develop efflorescence, a white powder that forms on its surface, regular sweeping is recommended. Brick pavers are easily replaced and provide a non-skid surface when wet, making them ideal around swimming pools. Generally, brick does not require sealing unless set in a location where grease or oil is a factor.

    Natural Stone Pavers

    • Natural stone pavers are taken from a quarry and fetch a higher price than their man-made rivals. They are commonly used in garden paths, small retaining walls and patios. Stone pavers are easily installed over a layer of sand and provide low maintenance, skid resistant service for years. Nature offers a huge selection of natural stone, from Pennsylvania bluestone to sea green limestone---mostly found in caves---to the yellow, green and beige Arizona flagstone, found in sandy river beds.

    Rubber Pavers

    • Rubber pavers are the antithesis to natural stone pavers, produced from recycled tire rubber among other things. Rubber is popular in commercial landscaping projects and public areas. It provides a maintenance-free, non-slip, rugged surface and comes in a variety of sizes to fit your needs. Rubber withstands high traffic and abuse from the elements and can be permanently installed with an adhesive or as interlocking pieces for easy removal.
